Modern day still cameras and mobile phones are quite sophisticated and capable of capturing lots of details when taking photos. Most of the digital cameras boast of capturing images with sizes of 8 mega pixels or more. Although the increase in MP (mega pixel) is not a good parameter of judging the quality of the image taken, but it increases the file size measured in Mega Bytes and such pictures are not convenient for sharing them on web in applications like Facebook, Emails, Instant Messaging and Iphone.

So, you need a photo resizing tool so as to optimize your photos and images before you can upload them on Internet and share them through Facebook etc.

How to Optimize Images for Internet

There are lots of tools available but we just stumbled across a very neat, easy and convenient image resizing tool called Freesizer.

StolenCameraFinder.com is a unique web application, which claims to help you to find, recover or trace your stolen camera. All you have...

StolenCameraFinder.com is a unique web application, which claims to help you to find, recover or trace your stolen camera. All you have to do is to upload an image taken with that camera on the website. The website will extract its meta data, which might contain important information about the make, model and serial number of your stolen or lost camera.

It then tries to match that meta data information from the other images uploaded on the image sharing sites like Flickr to trace you some other images, which have been taken from that camera. Now it is upto you how you identify the person who might be the person who is in possession of your stolen or lost camera with the help of those images.

Every photo you take with your digital camera contains hidden information about both the image and the camera such as the make, model and date. This information, called exif data, can also include a unique serial number which identifies your camera.

stolencamerafinder crawls the internet searching for photos, collecting the serial numbers of the cameras that took them.

When you use the drag & drop feature, stolencamerafinder reads the unique serial number from the exif data of your photo and uses it to match against serial numbers it has stored.

Nice concept, but in practice there may be a few assumptions and questions before you can reach at a conclusions.

But, Will This All Actually Bring My Camera Back?

Yes, that is the actual thing to be asked. For instance…

Fine, you may be able to trace some images taken by that stolen or lost camera. But, how to actually trace the person, who has taken those images and is deemed to be in possession of that camera at present?

Even if you are able to trace the person, how to actually get the camera back? Do you make a call to him and tell him that it is a stolen camera and you are the actual owner of that? Will that work, or do you call the police?

Then there are lots of ways in which the meta data information can be changed from the images. And if that can be done easily, how will you prove that you are the actual owner of that camera. Will that person not be able to claim that you might have changed the meta data of your pictures to match the meta data of his pictures? Will your claim be sustained in such a situation?

And can this web service be misused for stalking? I would not go into details for obvious reasons.

What do you think? Is the service really useful?

Bittorrent Speed depends upon one crucial aspect – how smoothly the incoming and outgoing traffic flows through the Bittorrent network. If you are searching for a tool to increase Bittorrent download speed, there are chances that you may find some software tools, which claim that they can speedup Bit Torrent downloads. But most of them are just scams and adware software.

The actual increase in speed can be obtained by taking care of some basic issues. Here are some of them.

1. Adjusting Your Upload Settings: If you allow uploads to a higher value, then invariably your download speeds may suffer. Setting of your upload limits is a fine line and it has been observed that settings it to about 80% of your overall upload capacity will give you optimum speeds. You can check your upload capacity by visiting a site like speedtest.net.

2. Adjusting Your Download Settings: It is a good idea to keep your download settings as say 95% of your download capacity, which can again be checked from sites like speedtest.net.

3. Selecting the Best Torrents: For best bittorrent speeds, it is imperative that you choose the best torrent, which has a high seed to peer ratio. This is important because of the characteristics inherent to seeds and peers. Remember…

Seeds have 100% of the content associated with the torrent and are only uploading to peers. Peers also upload to other peers, but are also looking for other peers to upload to themselves and their download capacity is almost always higher than their upload capacity.

4. Disable Windows Firewall: Windows firewall is known to be hating Bittorrents. If you want to use a firewall, then use some others like ZoneAlarm or Keiro.

5. Encryption: Some ISP’s are known to throttle the torrent traffic. You can bypass the limitations set by these ISP’s by using the encryption on your torrent downloads. This will sure speedup bittorrents in case your ISP is limiting your speeds.

This is not an exhaustive list. There are sure many others also like them. But I have found them to be working like charm. Try them, if you are not already using them to increase bit torrent speeds.

Personal Blocklist is a free extension for Google Chrome that has been created by Google itself. This extension lets you block websites...

Personal Blocklist is a free extension for Google Chrome that has been created by Google itself. This extension lets you block websites that you do not want to appear in Google search results. You can just add those websites to your Personal blocklist with this Chrome extension, and then those websites will never appear in your Google search results again.

Personal Blocklist Google Chrome extension is very easy to use. Once you have installed this extension, you will start seeing option “Block website name” with each of the search result. You can just click on that option, and that website will be completely blocked from your search results.

Note: It just blocks the website from appearing in your search results. If you try to go to that website directly in your browser, it does not stops you from doing that.

You can keep blocking as many websites as you want. However, there is no simple way to block multiple websites together by just providing the website list. The only way to block websites is to click on “Block” text that comes with them in search results.

Also, this extension works in Google Chrome only, and does not blocks search results in other <a href="http://thepcsecurity.com/tag/browsers/"title="" >browsers.

To see your blocked list, you can just click on the Personal Blocklist extension icon that comes next to Chrome address bar. It will show you list of all the websites that you have blocked. From here, you can also choose to unblock any website.

Be advised that any result that you block is sent back to Google as well, so that Google can analyze the results. Overall, Personal Blocklist Google Chrome extension is quite useful if you keep getting lot of crappy websites in your search results. Using this extension, you can block them for once and for all.

It may contain a detailed breakdown of tasks accomplished throughout the project or program. This information may be used for payroll, client billing, and increasingly for project costing, estimation, tracking and management.

Some companies provide web-based timesheet software or services that provide a means to track time for payroll, billing and project management. One of the major uses of timesheets in a project management environment is comparing planned costs versus actual costs, as well as measuring employee performance, and identifying problematic tasks.
Websites are built in different manners and on different platforms. They have different HTML codes behind them; some are neat while others...

Websites are built in different manners and on different platforms. They have different HTML codes behind them; some are neat while others are buggy. Further, some are simple text based, while others have lots of streaming media, audio and video, javascripts and things like that. The requirement of a web server for hosting a website depends upon many factors and there can be not be any one yardstick to measure them all.

What is a Shared Hosting Plan

A shared hosting plan is a server, which hosts lots of blogs,, business websites and stores. These websites are allocated a part of the common resource pool and the web host managers try to create a balance in the usage patterns of different websites. In such a situation, it often happens that the websites drawing lots of visitors consume more of the critical resources like memory and CPU as compared to the websites, which draw less visitors.

The web host managers allow this only to a certain extent. When a website grows beyond that, web hosts raise a red flag and ask the webmaster of that website to move their website to either a dedicated server or move it to elsewhere.

Here come the VPS Hostings

VPS Hosting is the next step. They are an intermediate step in the journey towards a dedicated web host. Customers are allowed a little more flexibility and they now have their own administrative control on the web server functionality. Although you are still on a shared server, but there are less number of people sharing that server and the server is partitioned to allow individuals to configure their partition as per their requirements and needs.

When Is the Time to Migrate to a VPS Hosting

As we have already said, there cannot be a prescribed format. It all depends on individual needs and requirements. You yourself can decide when it is time to migrate. You have to keep a watch on critical resource usage pattern and then take a decision.

What is 192.168.1.2

192.168.1.2 is a private IP Address, which is used by many of the router manufacturers as the default IP Address. This is fabricated within the firmware of the router and allows a user to access the device through a web browser running on a computer which is connected with the device.

Being a default IP Address does not mean that it cannot be changed by the user. If the user want, he can change the IP Address to anything other than 192.168.1.2 depending upon his needs and requirements.

What are Private IP Addresses

In the Internet addressing architecture, a private network is a network that uses private IP address space. These addresses are commonly used for home, office, and enterprise local area networks (LANs), when globally routable addresses are not mandatory, or are not available for the intended network applications. Private IP address spaces were originally defined in an effort to delay IPv4 address exhaustion, but they are also a feature of the next generation Internet Protocol, IPv6.

These addresses are characterized as private because they are not globally delegated, meaning they are not allocated to any specific organization, and IP packets addressed by them cannot be transmitted onto the public Internet. Anyone may use these addresses without approval from a regional Internet registry (RIR). If such a private network needs to connect to the Internet, it must use either a network address translator (NAT) gateway, or a proxy server.

The Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) has directed the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) to reserve the following IPv4 address ranges for private networks.

Ensuring your online safety is getting more important by each passing days. I come across several people, who will keep on running outdated and un-patched software and <a href="http://thepcsecurity.com/tag/browsers/"title="" >browsers, keep on downloading pirated software from torrent sites, continuing sharing files through p2p networks like Kazaa and give a damn thought about the online safety and <a href="http://thepcsecurity.com"title="PC Security" >PC security.

Please be advised…things are too complex these days. It is a known fact that malware developers and online threats are getting smarter and smarter and security agencies and vendors are looking to be fighting a increasingly difficult battle to combat them.

In such situations, you cannot rely on any security software for providing you complete online security. Remember, your online safely is in your hands, and you have to be vigilant, cautious and circumspect in your approach, while being online.

Microsoft has sponsored the creation of a new, free, Internet Safety Calendar application, that consumers can download to their Internet Explorer browser (Note: only IE is supported at this time).

Built by LOOKBOTHWAYS, the calendar provides relevant monthly advice to help you increase your online safety whether you’re looking out for your own safety, or you are a parent watching over your family’s safety. The calendar also includes reminders for recurring those safety actions you know you should be doing, but that frequently get forgotten in the rush of day-to-day activities.

Each month, the calendar will send you a note reminding you to check the calendar for important online safety advice, but you can also view the app at any time by selecting Online Safety Calendar under the Tools menu.

But remember, this calender works only with the Internet Explorer. I have tested it with IE8 and IE9 Beta. It is not working with IE9 BETA and I have not tested with any other versions.

Web-hosting is a highly competitive market today. With lots of companies offering cheap web hosting solutions and wit ever-increasing list of features and options, it often becomes difficult to choose the best web hosting solution for your requirements.

If you are searching for your options to host your web solution on a sharepoint server, then SherWeb’s Hosted Exchange might be a good option worth considering. In case you are wondering what is a sharepoint server, then let me mention that there are specialized hosts for web solutions requiring collaborative working and among them, servers using Microsoft’s Sharepoint platform is a common solution.

Microsoft SharePoint, also known simply as SharePoint, is a software platform developed by Microsoft for collaboration and web publishing combined under a single server. These capabilities include developing web sites, portals, intranets, content management systems, search engines, wikis, blogs, and other tools for business intelligence.

Here is a nice video, on how Sharepoint can help you in your search for a perfect web solution.

The capabilities of SharePoint 2010 work together to help your company quickly respond to changing business needs. Using SharePoint 2010, your people can share ideas and expertise, create custom solutions for specific needs, and find the right business information to make better decisions. For IT, SharePoint 2010 helps you cut training and maintenance costs, save time and effort, and focus on higher business priorities.?
